Hello, Artists and Families!
I'm Emily Ryals, Art Teacher at Annette Winn Elementary School! I am so excited to share my love of art with you. We've kicked off this year with an exploration of the Elements of Art, learning how Line, Shape, Color (and more!) are used to create works of art. This year we will explore many exciting materials including paint and clay. Check back here for updates on what we're working on.

Provide basic art supplies such as crayons, markers, glue, scissors, and construction paper. Other great items are watercolors and tempera paint.
Provide a dedicated space that students can create art, such as:
Kitchen Table
Garage
Porch
On a table cloth on the floor
Allow students to create the art of their choice- don't worry if it's not something you recognize or expect. Making art is a complex process that engages the fine motor skills and imagination!
Encourage skills such as using scissors and squeezing glue. We're learning, "a dot does a lot!"
It's ok to make a mess!! Communicate your expectations for cleaning up and storing supplies.
