Greetings Y’all! My name is Mr. Gray, and I will be serving as your child’s 7th and 8th Grade History teacher. I am from the City with Soul—Jackson, Mississippi—and this will be my first year teaching at Discovery. I am excited to begin this journey with you and your child! I look forward to partnering with you to support your child’s success, strengthen their academic skills, and increase their curiosity and love of learning history.

As we begin the school year, please remember that students are expected to follow the school’s uniform and attendance policies each day, including submitting absence notes within three days of an absence. Students with more than 25 absences may be retained according to school policy. 

Please also review the student handbook on the school website throughout the year for updated policies and expectations. In addition to the class supply list, each student will need a learning journal, which we will use regularly for writing, reflection, and historical thinking.
