Welcome everyone to English Language Development (ELD) This year I will be working with students who have the amazing ability to speak or understand another language besides English. We have over 9 languages spoken in our school other than English! That is amazing and so cool to see in Parker!
My job here is to make sure your child(ren) are receiving the best education. I usually support the teachers in-class as much as I can. I also might pull students to work in my room, sometime kids need a break or the movement helps. If a student is in need of support on classwork, I will also support them with that. My area of focus is listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
I am also here to help you as a parent or guardian. This year great communication will be needed. I usually send you a text through Talking Point and/or an email. You can also send me a text back or email me. The classroom teachers sometimes don't get a chance to check email until the end of the day, so I can also be a point of contact for you if you need an answer from them right away. I will be the person who will set up translators and anything you need in another language, just let m know if you need this.
About me
My name is Carly Wise and this is my 5th year here at IHE and being an ELD teacher. My previous life, I was a 3rd grade teacher. I have been in education for 18 years.
I am a Colorado native and grew up in Northglenn, Colorado. My family is all over the place, with my parents in Kansas, my brother in the UP of Michigan, and my sister in Tennessee. My husband is also a native and we grew up miles apart but didn't meet until college, at the University of Northern Colorado. We have been married for 14 years and we have two wonderful active boys. Both of my children attend IHE, one in 1st grade and the other in 2nd grade. During family time we like to do family hikes, watch movies, and explore everything around us.
