Halloween Parade and Party!

Our Halloween Parade and Party will be Tuesday, October 31st beginning at 8:55 and YOU ARE INVITED!  We begin the fun with the all school parade to show off our costumes, then party in our classroom!  Here's a few things you should know for the day:

Swiftie Day on November 1st!

On November 1st, we will have our Fund Run Assembly in the afternoon.  We are so excited that we raised enough money to watch a live concert by Mrs. Lawson and her family!  She is doing it Taylor Swift style and we want to bring some fun into the experience.  On Wednesday, have your child come to school dressed in their favorite Taylor Swift Era gear, bring their friendship bracelets to trade and get them pumped for the Swiftie fun!!

Yearbook orders--HURRY!!

Order your Heritage yearbook today to get 10% off (price only good until October 31st).  Price will go up after this date.  Here is the Yearbook Link to order.

We invite our students, parents, teachers, staff and community to join us in nominating their favorite teacher(s), principal, classified employee and department employee! You can nominate as many staff members as you'd like to! Thank you for recognizing our amazing Heritage staff members! 🍎

WHat we are Learning

In reading, we have been working hard in our Wonders reading curriculum. We will move into a few expository stories that surround the question, "What do good problem solvers do?" Our key skills include problem/solution, text structure and graphic features. We will also read Chapter 9 in Harry Potter this week.

The 5th graders continue to work on answering the question: Should Florida's government use funds to protect natural resources or develop land?  The students have been perfecting their paraphrasing skills as we are mindful about plagarism. We are working on revising and editing skills as well.

Topic 5 will begin this next week and includes long division.  In order to remember the algorithm to solve these problems, we use the saying, "Does McDonald's Sell CheeseBurgers?"  (Divide, Multiply, Subtract, Compare, Bring down.). Here's a great video showing this procedure step-by-step.

Our next science unit is titled "Watery Planet". In this unit, students consider the profound importance of water as a natural resource. Students investigate the distribution of water, how it cycles through Earth’s systems, and explore how it affects human societies.
