International Exchange Student Placement Application
If you are interested in placing a Foreign Exchange student at ThunderRidge High School, please follow these steps:
1. The Host family must live within the TRHS Boundaries and have a student currently attending TRHS or a student that has graduated within five years.
2. The exchange student must not have graduated from a high school or its equivalent.
3. The exchange student must be 17 years old upon enrollment at ThunderRidge High School, be classified as a senior, commit to the Fall semester or a full year and be present on the first day of school for orientation. Note: School starts the very beginning of August.
4. The Exchange Organization, exchange student and their family, plus the Host family understand that a diploma will not be awarded; instead the exchange student will be awarded a Certificate of Attendance at the Graduation Ceremony in May.
5. Exchange students are accepted on a first come, first served basis until all spots are filled or the May 1st deadline passes.
6. The Exchange Organization must follow the attached guidelines and requirements.
7. If accepted, the TRHS Foreign Exchange Coordinator/s will sign the Exchange Organization’s acceptance letter and return it to the agency.
8. The Exchange Organization will work with the Douglas County School District Student Data and Enrollment Services Department (SDES) to upload and process the HSAF and supporting documents.
9. Once the DCSD Student Data and Enrollment Services Department has processed all the necessary paperwork, the Registrar will reach out to the host family to complete the online registration (OLR) forms.
