Volunteer Information

We would love help in our classroom! Please reference the DCSD Volunteer website to become a volunteer within the district. Thank you in advance and we can't wait to have extra helping hands in our room! :-)

Email me with days and time that work for you!

Homework

For homework, please let your Kindergartener be a Kindergartener! Some ideas to try: have your child lead a conversation during dinner time, have your child practice getting dressed independently, have him/her help around the house with making the beds, bake together, etc. All of these will be great skills!

All I ask is that your child interacts with a book 10 minutes per night and practices our Sight Words. An idea would be to write our sight words on flashcards and put them around your home and have your child read them whenever they see a word (opening the bathroom door, pulling a chair out at the table, etc.).

Kindergarten Sight Words

Star Student

As a Kindergartener, it's so fun to be the Star Student! Your child will be the Star Student for the WHOLE week. We will rotate as the year goes along - please look below for the schedule.

Your child will complete a poster that I'll provide on the prior Friday and this can be completed at home over the weekend. He/she will present the poster at the beginning of the following week and it will be put up on our Star Student wall for all to see! The Star Student has special jobs all week long and the week will end with your child bringing something fun from home to share with the class! :-) You can also come read a story this day to the class and we can find a time that works for you!
