Building Community Through Technology
The Technology Leadership Program is all about empowering students with real-world tech skills, leadership, and responsibility. From keeping classrooms running smoothly to creating a collaborative space, we help students grow, support learning, and get ready to lead and inspire through technology—both today and in the future.
How It All Started
The idea for the Technology Leadership Program all started with a simple question. One afternoon in the library, Aubrey Campbell came up to me and asked, “Do you teach any classes?” I told her no, and that’s when she excitedly shared how much she loved being part of the Tech Leadership Program at her elementary school. I immediately thought, Wow, that’s a great idea!—but I needed some time to figure out how to make it happen.
What really made this program possible was Aubrey’s persistence. She didn’t let the idea go and kept following up with me—always politely and with so much enthusiasm. Eventually, I had the chance to pitch it to Ms. Shanor, our principal, and with her support, the MRMS Technology Leadership Program was born. It’s all thanks to Aubrey’s determination and her passion for tech!
Sharing Our Journey
Since we’re a brand new program, we don’t have any big “success stories” just yet—but that’s all part of the journey. We’re figuring things out as we go, and while we’re bound to stumble along the way, that’s how we’ll learn and grow. It’s my hope that, through the challenges and the wins, we’ll create a space where students feel empowered to try new things, take risks, and discover what they’re capable of.
For now, I wanted to give some of our members the chance to share their own experiences—their roles in the program, what they’re learning, and how they feel about being part of something still taking shape. These are the first voices of the MRMS Technology Leadership Program, and I’m excited to see where this journey takes us—mistakes, successes, and all.
