Mrs. Swier's 6th Grade

Hello! My name is Mrs. Swier. I was born and raised in the Littleton area, where most of my family still lives. In 2008 I moved to the mountains and lived in Kremmling for 5 1/2 years. I enjoyed spending time hiking, skiing, snowshoeing, and exploring the outdoors! On 09-19-09 (cool date right?) I married a wonderful man named Rob. He is a firefighter and loves to be involved in the fun activities I do with my students! Rob and I have two beautiful baby girls and one handsome little man. Lily turned 5 in November, Ember turned 3 in July, and Dublin turned 1 in December. Life has changed dramatically and has become so much more fun. Lily, Ember, and Dublin also love to come visit "my kids" at school. Bunker and Fiji are our two labradors, who love to play with our little ones!

This is my ninth year in teaching, and I am so blessed to be at Trailblazer Elementary this year. For 5 years I taught at an Expeditionary Learning School in Avon (near Vail). I taught grades 3-4 and loved it so much, but I needed more time with my little girls and Avon was far from home. I also taught 3rd grade in Kremmling. As the girls started getting older, we have decided we wanted to be closer to family. So, we moved back to the metro area.

The sixth graders in our class this year are absolutely amazing! There has been some amazing collaboration and complex thinking. The students wracked their brains this year to come up with a motto for our year. We have decided to call ourselves the Swag 6 and our motto is "We started at the bottom and now we're at the top. We are going to keep on going and we're never going to stop!" Mrs. Faltys (the other 6th grade teacher) and I are so proud of their wonderful thinking and go-getter attitudes.
