Communication

formal

informal

verbal

non-verbal

    • writing that follows structure, format, and uses the rules of English language
    • writing that is like ‘slang’ i, u (you)
    • communication that you speak or that you can hear
    • Gestures, written etc.

Before I write/communicate I should always think…….

    • Purpose - Why I am writing/communicating this / what is my reason for writing
    • (for example…. am I writing this to: tell a story, to inform people about something, to explain something I did, to show gratitude (thanks), to argue a point or to prove your thinking, etc.

BASED ON YOUR PURPOSE:

    • your word choice
    • your tone
    • your style
    • your format (email, letter, SCR(paragraph), essay, text, post)
    • EVIDENCE (you should ALWAYS provide a minimum of 3 pieces of evidence to prove ‘why’ you are writing.)

Audience - Who will read this or hear this or see this (who will evaluate this) Who you are writing to

BASED ON YOUR AUDIENCE:

    • Your word choice
    • Your tone
    • Your depth of information
    • The quality type of your evidence

Is ‘How well you listen’ a form of communication? (Is it a skill you have and you use?)
