Reading:
This week for Reading, we focused on expository texts (non-fiction texts that give facts and information about a topic) in our Wonders curriculum.
We worked on our Middle of the Year iReady Reading Diagnostic over 3 days.
Writing:
This week for Writing, we continued to focus on writing an argumentative text. An argumentative text makes a strong claim that clearly supports a perspective with logical reasons. Students will be answering why it is important to treat archeological sites with respect. We have analyzed a few sources this week and next week we will begin to plan and draft our essay.
Math: Snider only
We worked on rounding decimals this week and took our quiz on Wednesday. We finished up the week by taking our mid-unit assessment. I am using this as a data point to see what the kids have mastered and what we need to continue to work on. Next week we will begin adding and subtracting decimals.
Science:
This week for Science, we discussed the impact of humans on Earth. We dug deeper into renewable and nonrenewable resources, and how we can reduce our negative impact on our planet!
Leader in Me:
Habit #3 - Put First Things First. This week we focused on prioritizing the Big Rocks in our lives. The Big Rocks are the values and things that are the most important to you. The small rocks are those things that can wait.
If you ever have questions or concerns about your child's learning, please do not hesitate to reach out. I am always happy to help :)
