7th Language Arts

Platte River

Room 509

Hello! I am beyond excited to begin this school year with you!  This school year begins my 21st year of teaching. I began my teaching career in Mississippi where I taught English and Public Speaking in grades 9-12 for ten years. I then transitioned to the community college level where I was a Humanities instructor for four years before finding my way to Colorado. I was fortunate enough to join the staff at Prairie Crossing Elementary where I taught 6th grade for the last six years. I am thrilled to now add middle school to my career achievements.

I received my B.A. and M.S. in Speech Communication from the University of Southern Mississippi. I also completed additional graduate work in English at William Carey University.  I hold a K-6 certification in elementary education and 7-12 certifications in English/language arts and speech communication.

My husband and I have been happily married for 20 years and have two sons. We have lived in Mississippi our entire lives until my husband’s job moved us to Colorado in 2017. After adjusting to the weather, we have grown to love Colorado and the many things it has to offer.

Some of my favorite things:

Favorite drink:  coffee

Favorite candy:  Sour Patch Kids (especially the peach ones!)

Favorite hobby:  reading

Favorite pasttime:  shopping a good sale

Favorite sport:  basketball
