Hello Wranglers!
My name is Kris Diamond and I am so proud to be starting my 16th year at Sage Canyon as the general music specialist. 2025-2026 is my 18th year in Douglas County and will be my 23rd year teaching. I am a graduate of the University of Colorado, where I was an active member of the music department and Golden Buffalo Marching Band. I earned my masters degree in music education from Boston University and completed my full certification as a Kodály music educator at Colorado State University. It is my philosophy that all children be given the opportunity to truly appreciate music in all of it's many forms. That may mean playing instruments, singing, listening, dancing, composing, and just generally enJOYing music! I like my students to know that although we may all have different tastes in music it is important to be able to appreciate and respect the tastes of others and know that it is fun to enjoy many genres of music. Some of my personal favorites are Tedeschi Trucks Band, Huey Lewis and the News, The Beatles, Beethoven, Led Zeppelin, Bob Marley, Tchaikovsky, John Williams, Ella Fitzgerald, AC/DC, Duke Ellington, Josquin Des Prez, Dave Matthews, and many more!
I am originally from Truckee, CA - just North of Lake Tahoe. I chose to come to Colorado to attend CU-Boulder, where I met my husband in the marching band. We have been married for 22(!!!) years and have two sons. Nick is in 9th grade and Paul is in 6th grade. We all love to call Castle Rock home with our two dogs, Sierra and Lucy! In my free time I like to travel, hike, cross-stitch, and learn new songs and new instruments.
