Meet Your Teacher

I am so excited to have you as a part of our class!  Second grade is an exciting and fun year and I can't wait for us to learn and grow together!

I am originally from California, but since I moved here when I was only four, I like to call myself a Colorado native.  I grew up very close by in Centennial.  I then earned my BA and teaching license from the University of Colorado at Boulder.  Go Buffs! I always knew I wanted to be a teacher and it is very exciting for me to be doing what I love!  Last school year I  completed a Masters of Science Degree in Curriculum and Instruction.  I am now finishing a second masters  degree in Learning Experience Design and Educational Technology . I hope to  graduate in September!

I started my career here at Cougar Run as a student teacher in 2002.  I had an amazing year working with first graders in Mrs. Davidson's class.  I was incredibly lucky the following year to have the opportunity to stay on board at Cougar Run as a second grade teacher.  It is hard to believe that this will be my 21st year teaching second grade at Cougar Run!

I live right here in Highlands Ranch with Mr. Dimino and my two sons.  Our older son, Easton, is  in 4th grade  here at the Cougar Run!  Our younger son is named Hudson.  He is now  a 1st grader  at Cougar Run.  I love that we are all at school together!  We also have a very lovable, boxer named Penny. We can't seem to get enough of her!   In my spare time I enjoy spending time with our family and friends. I love getting out to enjoy all the great things Colorado has to offer.  I love hiking, running, walking and biking! This summer I added paddle-boarding and hiking to my list of favorite hobbies. We spent loads of time on the water this summer.  I also enjoy reading and listening to audio books and doing DIY projects.  My favorite hobby is teaching fitness classes at Chuze Fitness, Vasa, and 24Hour.    I also really love plants and spend loads of time taking care of my plants both indoors and out.  I am starting to really enjoy photography, too.  Check out the photos below of some of the beautiful flowers that grew in my garden!  My boys and I spend a  lot of time exploring creeks and ponds around town.  My boys and I love spending time together  catching  bugs, tadpoles and frogs,  as well as fish and crawdads.  My sons are now great bike riders so we have been enjoying riding all over Highlands Ranch as a family.  Maybe we'll see you out and about too!

Second grade is such an amazing year!  We will learn and grow in so many ways.    I can't wait to make the year special with you!

See you soon!
