Hello! My name is Sarah Canivez and I am the speech-language pathologist at Heritage for grades K-6! This is my 8th year working in DCSD and I am so excited to return to the Heritage building this year. I am originally from central Illinois and have lived in Colorado since 2018. I enjoy all of the wonderful activities that this state has to offer! I graduated from Southern Illinois University- Edwardsville with my master's degree in speech-language pathology. I am recently married to my high school sweetheart, Clayton, and we have two cats together. We love to camp, hike, paddle board, and travel. Some of my personal interests include reading, playing the piano, seeing live music, exercising, and planning my next adventure!
While the scope of practice for an SLP is extensive, my areas of expertise and passion include phonological speech sound disorders, AAC, and play-based/child-led therapy approaches. I look forward to meeting each student's needs in a way that is fun, positive, and goal focused. Please know that I am here to partner with you for your student's success and am always a phone call or email away. I can't wait for another great year at HE!
