Current Units of Study

In Reader's and Writer's Workshops, students are currently immersed in a Deep Study of Character. As readers, we have been studying character traits. We are now pushing our thinking further and beginning to investigate how character traits and motifs can help us uncover themes.

As writers, we are applying our learning about character traits, motifs, and themes to our personal narratives. We are studying mentor authors to see how they convey theme through repeating conflicts, character thoughts, and emotions.
