Plants/Produce

The RHMS garden is 3000 square feet and has many different plants and produce. All of the crops are grown on 8-foot by 4-foot cedar raised beds/boxes, sunken pots, or in whiskey barrels. We also have some apple trees, a cherry bush and grapes growing along the fence that encloses the garden!

Box 1 & 2 (Cool Weather Boxes):

  • Leafy Greens - Spinach, lettuce, carrots, and radishes
  • In summer months we grow herbs - basil, dill, lavender and parsley

Box 3 & 4:

  • Peppers - Sweet peppers, Poblano peppers, Serrano peppers, and Anaheim peppers
  • Jalapenos

Box 5, 6 & 7:

  • Tomatoes - Cherry tomatoes, Sun-gold tomatoes, Brandywine tomatoes , Early Girl tomatoes, Beefsteak tomatoes, and Black Zebra tomatoes.
  • Basil is grown along with tomatoes to be a natural insect repellent.

Box 9 &10 (Has chicken wire around it):

  • Climbing Plants - Green Beans, Snap Peas, Cucumbers

There are also carrots and radishes

Sunken Pots:

  • Butternut Squash
  • Yellow Squash
  • Zucchini
  • Mint

Whiskey Barrels:

  • Chives
  • Flowers to attract butterflies

Trees:

  • 1 Honey Crisp Apple Tree
  • 1 Macintosh Apple Tree
  • 1 Cherry Bush

Grapes

  • Concord grape vine along fence

All of the produce goes to Ms. Olsen's cooking class during the school year.
