Welcome to the Rock Canyon High School Advanced Placement Research Projects home page! We are very proud of the individual and original research these students are conducting as the culminating activity of the RCHS Advanced Placement Capstone Program. The research and resulting papers you will find here in many ways represent "The Best of the Best" as AP Capstone diploma candidates have taken a rigorous course load throughout high school and are currently finishing a two-year program in which they are to develop the independent research, collaborative teamwork, and communication skills that most often lead to success at the college level.
The AP Capstone program consists of a two-year progression of courses: AP Seminar during Junior year and AP Research during Senior year. In addition to successfully completing these two courses, an AP Capstone diploma candidate must also pass a minimum of four additional AP exams in any subject during their high school years. Thus, the research and papers you will find here represent students' hard work over two years of honing their questioning, analytical and writing skills in a variety of topic areas, which stems from their exposure to highly rigorous topics and coursework spanning a wide breadth of curricular areas.
At Rock Canyon, we are very proud to boast one of the largest and most successful AP programs in Colorado and we hope you find these students' work both insightful and educational.
