About RAD - Renaissance Adventure Day

Question: Why are we having a Renaissance Adventure Day? R.A.D.

Answer: R.A.D is our first, of our two, fundraisers we have yearly. This day has been created to align with our Adventure Education program and our school mission. This fundraiser is for students to be directly involved in raising the money. We are challenging students to participate in a pledge drive to raise funds for our school. They will ask their family and friends to sponsor them as participants of this event.

Service, another REMS value, will also be a component of our day, as students will participate in an art station where they will be making a part of a new art installation for our school. The idea of the installation was inspired by the Asian tradition of hanging ribbons on fences with messages of hopes, dreams or wishes to be blown by the wind and spread to faraway places where they will grow. Students will write their own hope, dream or wish for the world onto a ribbon to tie on the Renaissance hope, dream and wish fence.

Purpose of R.A.D:

  • Fundraise for our school
  • Participate in personal challenges and team building
  • Have a great time!

Question: Why do we need to raise money?

Answer: There simply isn't enough money coming from the state and district to fund the programming we want to offer our kids. This year, we targeted four areas that need financial support:

  • Install a large swing set and shade structures for our Outdoor Learning Environment (OLE).
  • Update books in teacher's classroom libraries.
  • Replace and maintaining our technology devices.
  • Provide supplies for Workshop Wednesday and other learning experiences.

Question: What is our goal?

Answer: Our goal is for each student to raise $125 dollars. If we can do that, we would raise $40,000 dollars. We did this last year, let's do it again!
