Hello crew! My name is Angela Fontanelli. This year I am transitioning from Mild/Moderate programming to supporting our student with affective needs. I am excited to make this transition to help support our students with behavior and self regulation alongside a team that is here to support them. I will also administer and oversee academic services for our students.
I am eager to continue my work at Pine Lane Elementary in this new role. As the Intermediate Affective Needs Teacher, I will support students in fourth through sixth grade with affective needs programming.
I have worked in special education on and off for 6 years. The last 4 1/2 years I worked as a Mild/Moderate Needs Teacher at both a DCSD Charter school and Pine Lane. Before moving to DCSD, I taught for 2 1/2 years overseas in English Immersion programs in Mexico and Costa Rica. I completed my Master of Arts in Teaching in Elementary and Special Education in 2018 through Liberty University.
My family has lived in Colorado for 28 years. I graduated from Elizabeth High School, then joined the military. After years away due to military service and teaching overseas, I returned to Colorado. While I was away, I experienced many parts of the country from the East to the West Coast, and was stationed in Anchorage for several years. I was also able to experience other cultures through time in Okinawa, Australia, Iraq, Mexico and Costa Rica.
I moved back to Colorado in December of 2019. My two dogs, Aero and Kira, joined me as puppies in January of 2021. When I am not spending time with the dogs, I like to get out and ride on my motorcycle for some wind therapy.
I want to build genuine relationships with my students founded on mutual trust. It is my desire to see them achieve much more than they believed they were capable of, holding them to high expectations of behavioar and academic performance.
