"Build bridges not barriers" in inclusive education means... creating welcoming and accessible learning environments by removing obstacles and proactively fostering connections for all students, including those with diverse backgrounds, learning styles, and abilities

We have a great team of support for students !
Together we work with family members, home support staff, peers, school specialists, teachers, district consultants and organizations within our community.
We aim to help students develop important skills, that will provide the foundation for learning, make social connections and obtain gainful employment.
DCSD SSN (Significant Support Needs) Programs - Students identified with intellectual disabilities and/or significantly impacting disabilities often require support through SSN programs.
SSN programs can provide specialized instruction aligned with Colorado's Extended Evidence Outcomes, and focus on the development of important academic skills, communication, social skills, adaptive skills and life skills. SSN programming is designed to increase students' independence throughout their education and help them have an equitable educational experience at every age.
Levels of Support - Students receive support based on their Individual Education Program (IEPs) in order to progress in the state education requirements and grade level expectations.
*In-class/Indirect Support- A Special Education teacher or Educational Assistant works in the Regular Education classroom to provide additional accommodations and modifications where needed.
*Pull-out/Direct Support - Students travel to a designated room to get more direct instruction from a Special Education Teacher. This may often include behavioral support and academic interventions to support their access to the curriculum.

"Parents have the right to meaningfully participate in the development of their child’s special
education program. The right to meaningful participation is protected by a group of IDEA
requirements called the “Procedural Safeguards.” Together, these safeguards ensure that parents
have the right to make informed decisions about their child’s educational programming and
services and to challenge certain decisions with which they do not agree.
This guide is written for parents to explain these rights. The definition of parent includes, but is not
limited to, the child’s biological or adoptive parent, legal guardian, foster parent, or educational
surrogate parent."
