HELLO STUDENTS and THEIR GROWN-UPS!
MY NAME IS BETH HALL.
I AM VERY ENTHUSIASTIC TO SAY THAT I WILL BE WORKING WITH
YOUR 4th GRADER THIS UPCOMING YEAR!!
A little about Me: I was born and raised in Ohio; after graduating college at Miami University of Ohio, I lived in New Orleans, Louisiana, in my 20’s and have been in Colorado ever since. I have been married for over 35 years, we have 4 grown children, and we have lived in Parker for over 32 years. All my children graduated from DCSD. I have over 20 years of experience in the workforce, primarily in the banking industry, and I own a real estate company. Before teaching, I worked with DCSD as an EA IV in the special needs area and as a substitute teacher, most often in 6th grade. My Bachelor’s degree is in Psychology & Sociology. 10 years ago, I was a Boettcher Resident and an intern at Pine Lane in 1st grade and in SPED while working toward my Master’s in Education at Adams State University. I also received endorsements in Special Ed, ESL, READ Act, and Early Education. For the first 5 years, I taught 2nd grade at PLE, and then for 2 years I taught 6th grade, and now 4th grade. All at PLE. My daughter is also a teacher in Parker at Mammoth Heights - our video from our first year as teachers together in DCSD is below.
I have spent time teaching in various areas all over the world. In 2005, I spent the summer in the villages and slums of Kenya, Africa; In 2008, I was in Juarez, Mexico, where I built homes and taught at a local church. Then, in 2009, I went to El Salvador where I taught in an orphanage. In 2010, I returned to Kenya, Africa, to teach in several orphanages and the Nairobi slums. Recently, in the fall of 2015, 2018, and 2019, I traveled with the Belize Education Project to Belize to mentor and teach in schools along the Guatemalan border. I will be going again this year during fall break with teachers from area schools in Parker.
Philosophy: Teaching has always been a passion for me. I have a love for learning, and my desire for my students is for them to embrace a love for learning. I know that children have the best opportunity to succeed when they are engaged in a learning environment that best fits their needs. Our classroom has a lot of self-advocacy and ownership of voice and choice. I love to foster independent thinking, appropriate expression of ideas, critical thinking, collaboration, the development of good habits of character, ownership of actions, and understanding that mistakes lead to learning. I will always encourage students to discover their potential and independence and strive to be the best that they can be.
This year will definitely be fun, new, and exciting. A successful year begins with open communication, so feel free to email me.
THANKS FOR TAKING THE TIME TO GET TO KNOW ME! I CAN’T WAIT TO MEET EVERYONE!
