Mrs. Thompson

Hi! My name is Sydney Thompson! I am the new 6th grade English language arts teacher. This will be my first year at Northridge Elementary school, but not my first rodeo! This will be my 5th year teaching 6th grade. (In my opinion, 6th grade is the best grade.) 

I just recently moved here all the way from Arkansas. I was born and raised in a small town by the Buffalo National River, located in the heart of the Ozark Mountains. My husband, Travis, and I have been married for almost 8 years and we have hosted 4 exchange students over the past couple of years from all over the world. Our exchange students were from Spain, Germany, Thailand, and France. We were so thankful to experience their cultures and to show them our culture! My husband and I also have a dog and a cat. You will commonly find our cat, Luna, doing one of three things: sitting with her tongue out, making "biscuits", or sitting in any and every box available. Our dog, Bailey, is a rescue and can, also, be found sitting in boxes...(she thinks she is a cat like her sister.) 

My husband and I are avid hikers, mountain bikers, kayakers, climbers, and soon-to-be snowboarders. When I am not hitting the bunny slopes and tumbling down the side of a mountain on my bike, you can find me in a quiet coffee shop reading any and everything, crocheting, bird-watching, and identifying and studying trees, flowers, insects, and animals.

In my classroom, you will find us learning and laughing and READING!!!!  I am a huge advocator for students to find time everyday to independently read. It will be my mission to turn any reluctant reader into a strong and avid reader! 

I am so stinkin' excited to be working with my incredible team at NRE and I can't wait to see what this year brings us!
