Our classroom runs on the motto, "Go for the Gold". Students learn and are expected to...
Give Respect
Own their Actions
Listen & Learn
Do their Best
In addition to this school motto, we will have a whole class incentive marble jar to fill multiple times throughout the year and individual iPhone charts for showing amazing behaviors in the classroom. Students can use their personal charts to earn individual rewards and the whole class will celebrate upon filling the marble jar.
Each student is provided a personal planner at the start of the school year. Every afternoon, we will record important reminders and daily homework assignments.
It's the student's responsibility to bring back the planner and homework folder each day.
Homework will consist of:
A Reading Log
Read 30 mins per night
Log filled out every evening
Log turned in (signed by a parent) on Fridays
A Math Practice Page
Pages assigned every school night.
Practice pages due next day.
No math HW on topic review or testing days
Math Computational Fluency (Math Facts)
Use 99math for fact fluency practice
Homework will be tracked and a significant # of incomplete pages & logs will be reflected in upcoming report card comments. PLEASE reach out with any questions or difficulties when it comes to homework completion. Life can get crazy and sometimes even homework needs to take a backseat in our hectic evening plans!
Each day we will have a mid-morning snack. Please make sure your child eats a filling breakfast (whether at home or in the cafeteria upon arrival) to help fuel their morning ahead of snack time.
🚨IMPORTANT🚨: This year, our class has multiple life-threatening peanut and tree-nut allergies. There can be ZERO snacks in the classroom that contain these ingredients. Please help check student snack selections at home!
(This only applies to our classroom - NOT the cafeteria @ lunch.)
It is also equally important that your student pack a water bottle and snack each day. A healthy snack is always BEST!
Every Sunday, I will send an email titled "Nodtvedt News" containing important school and class updates.
The BEST way to reach me is via email. If you have an urgent need or same-day request, please contact the front office @ (303) 387-7700. They will forward all messages to me as needed.
All grade-level school supply lists can be accessed on the Gold Rush Website under the "Parent Resources" tab. For your convenience, you can also access the 4th grade supply list HERE.
No need for labeling supplies ahead of time. All students will be provided personalized labels from me containing their complete name, teacher name, and grade level.
When possible, please adhere to the colors and other specifications indicated for certain items on the list. See this visual for how supplies will be organized this year. Thank you!
We love recognizing and celebrating birthdays in our classroom!
Please try to email me with at least 2 days advance notice. (This allows me time to plan ahead & notify you of any possible class number changes.) We will enjoy treats at an appropriate time during their special day!
If your child is wanting to invite any classmates to celebrations outside of school, you can click HERE for the Gold Rush student directory (case-sensitive password = Digger). If your child has paper invites to hand out, I ask that they work with me to find the best time to hand out those invitations!
🚨IMPORTANT🚨: This year, our class has multiple life-threatening peanut and tree-nut allergies. There can be ZERO foods in the classroom that contain these ingredients. Please doublecheck ingredient labels before sending in treats!
Guidelines for Birthday Treats:
25 nut-free treats (this # is based on the start of year ONLY)
👉 NEW this Year 👈 - Students will no longer have time to hand out extra treats to additional teachers/staff. All extra birthday treats will be sent home.
Store-bought (no homemade items)
Individually wrapped -or- easy to hand out (no sheet cakes 🤪)
🏝️Summer Birthdays🏝️:
You have TWO options...
) Bring in treats on their half-birthday* (or)
) Bring in treats towards the end of the year*
*I especially ask for a heads-up with these unique and unexpected additions to our classroom calendar.
