Hello! I am Nathaniel Qunitana (aka Coach 'Q') your PE teacher!!!
I graduated from Colorado State University. I have been in Colorado most of my life. I grew up in Colorado Springs and am excited to live in Aurora now. I spent 10 years in Las Vegas, NV and I am super happy that I am back in Colorado.
I am incredibly excited to be joining the Northeast and Mt. View teams as your new PE teacher! Making the transition back into the school environment after working in other industries truly feels like I am returning home. My journey in education began immediately after graduating from Colorado State University as a High School Technology Teacher, and that experience taught me early on that working in schools is where I am meant to be.
While I have spent several years managing complex projects and leading teams in various sectors, my heart has always remained in the classroom. Even while working in the corporate and government worlds, I continued to serve as a teacher and trainer, always seeking ways to help others grow and reach their full potential. Over the course of my career, I have had the privilege of seeing my strategies implemented across a wide variety of industries—including Non-Profits, Healthcare, Local Government, U.S. Department of Defense, Aerospace, and Manufacturing. I have also served as a leadership coach and facilitator for the Latino Leadership Institute, helping professionals develop the confidence and skills needed to lead with impact.
I bring that same high-level energy and "strategic coaching" to the gym and the field. In addition to my Master of Science in Education, I am a Certified Pickleball Instructor with over five years of experience and have spent the last three years coaching Club Volleyball. As a former Certified Nutrition Coach, I am also passionate about helping students understand the connection between physical activity and fueling their bodies for success.
My teaching philosophy is rooted in Culturally Responsive practices. My goal is to create a supportive and inclusive environment where every student feels seen, valued, and empowered to succeed. I am a positive, proactive leader, and I can’t wait to partner with the students and families at Northeast and Mt. View to build a community of healthy, confident, and active learners!
