We will dismiss each day at 3:45. The office will close at 4. Students must be picked up on time. Students can be picked up at our classroom door at the back of the school (look for my name in the window), carpool, BASE or ride the bus. If the way your child is getting home changes, please notify both the office and myself. The office number is (303) 387-8675. The person picking up your child must have either their ID or the yellow card with your child's name on it. It is ok to have a picture of it as well.
Please feel free to bring a special snack for all 21 classmates on your child’s birthday or the closest school day to it. Please inform me via email if you are planning to bring in a treat for the class.
We’ll have a morning snack after recess. Please pack a healthy snack (or two) for your child to have during this time if they are hungry. Please keep in mind that eating snack is their choice.
Please send a spill proof straw water bottle that your child can keep at his or her desk for drinks. It gets very warm in our building during the summer months, so water bottles help!
We are a standards base grading district which means you will know how your child is performing in each content standard. This will give you a better idea of what concepts they have mastered and which ones they may need more support with. Grades will be entered after each semester.
Volunteers are a vital part of the classroom community. I will be sending out a Sign up Genius any time I am in need of classroom volunteers or parent chaperones. I usually need volunteers during literacy centers, class parties, independent math time, and Thursday Folders. I would also love some help with pulling papers out of our curriculum books. If you are willing to help please reach out!
Reading: There will be no reading logs sent home this year, however I encourage my students to read at least 20 minutes a night. This is SO SO important to support their reading growth.
Math: Students may come home with unfinished math papers that need to be completed at home. This could be because of behavior or if I feel like they could use some extra practice at home.
Every student has a Thursday Folder that will be filled with most of the things they have done that week. All school-wide papers will be in there as well. It will contain some extra practice worksheets (not required to finish). It will also contain a spelling list if we have one that week. This folder needs to come back on Monday morning each week.
