Let's have an amazing week!
This week we have STEAM!
This week we'll be moving into Lesson 2, where students will learn about three major civilizations in the Americas: the Maya, the Aztec, and the Inca. We'll be exploring their cities, cultures, and achievements, including things like Maya pyramids, the Aztec capital of Tenochtitlán, and the Inca Empire in the Andes Mountains.
This week we're continuing Unit 4! In this unit, students will be multiplying multi-digit numbers using a few different strategies: area models, partial products, and the standard algorithm. Learning multiple methods helps students build a deeper understanding of what's actually happening when they multiply, before moving toward the more traditional approach.
This week we're continuing Unit 1, Week 1 of Wonders. Our essential question is: How can experiencing nature change the way you think about it? We'll be reading narrative non-fiction and working on cause and effect, helping students see how one event leads to another in a story.
This week we're focusing on using POW and TIDE-L to help students plan their writing before they start. These are strategies we use throughout the year to help students organize their thoughts before they begin writing!
