Hi there! My name is Genessey Cowles, and I’m so excited to be starting my fifth year teaching 3rd grade at MHE—the school where I began my teaching journey!

I was born and raised in Colorado and grew up in Castle Rock. I’m a proud graduate of Castle View High School and attended DCSD schools my entire life, which makes it incredibly meaningful to now be teaching in the same district that shaped me.

After high school, I followed my lifelong dream of becoming a teacher by earning a degree in Elementary Education from the University of Colorado Boulder, along with an endorsement in Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CLD) Education. In 2023, I earned my Master of Science in Curriculum and Instruction.

When I’m not in the classroom, I love spending time with my family. Whether it’s heading to the mountains, watching my brother play basketball, or grilling in the backyard, I can always count on them for a good time. I also love being outdoors with my golden retriever, Mowgli—my best friend and the sweetest, most gentle giant you’ll ever meet!

I feel truly grateful to be part of the MHE and DCSD community. My students are my top priority, and I’m committed to helping each and every one of them grow, thrive, and reach their full potential this school year!
