SWIER
Welcome to 6th Grade!
I am so excited to learn and grow with you this year! 6th grade is a transition year, where you really get to start spreading your wings and gaining responsibility for yourself.
About Me:
This will be my 12th year in education. I taught 3rd and 4th grade up in Avon and Kremmling. I'm going to be honest, being hired as a 6th grade teacher was really intimidating. My hope was to survive the year, and move into a younger grade. However, my first year was amazing (as have been the rest). I love the sense of humor, deep thinking, and creativity that you get from 6th graders. This will be my 6th year at TBE teaching these soon-to-be middle schoolers!
I will be teaching 3 sections of math, which all of the 6th Graders (besides pre-algebra) will cycle through. Math is my favorite subject, and I hope that my excitement for problem solving will rub off on my students! My home room students will also work on specific literacy skills with me.
At home, I have a 2nd grade daughter named Lily, a 1st grade tomboy named Ember, and a preschool son named Dublin. Needless to say, I have a very busy home life. Please know that I will get back to your emails, however, they keep me pretty busy at night!!
My children are so unbelievably different, and that is a great reminder on how each child learns differently. The pictures on the side are how each of my daughters interpreted "reading upside down." I love letting the students take ownership and share their learning in different ways, as they are all unique!

Neck rests are a must on a late night flight!
Mathematics may not teach us to add love or subtract hate, but it gives us hope that every problem has a solution.
Life is a math equation. In order to gain the most, you have to know how to convert negatives into positives.
