Welcome to Mrs. Walia's Social Studies Class!
Hello, I am Mrs. Indira Walia. I am originally from Himachal Pradesh, India, but I have lived in America for over 35 years now. I have 16 years of experience teaching in middle school education. I hold two Master's Degrees: one in Political Science and the other in Instruction and Curriculum. My philosophy of education is to equip students with the necessary tools that they would need to become critical thinkers, problem solvers, and lifelong learners. In addition to being a teacher at Cresthill, I am a private Hindi language teacher as well as an adjunct faculty member at the University of Denver. I am married and have two children. Neal, the oldest, is active in politics, and my daughter, Natasha, is a Civil Engineer working in Oakland. In my free time, I enjoy traveling, hiking, watching movies, dancing, and spending time with my family and friends. I really do love my job and really enjoy working with my middle schoolers! I am so honored to teach in such a structured, disciplined, and academically successful school.
We will be using this website as we journey through the school year together. Be sure to review the Google Classroom page and calendar tabs. You will find your class codes, weekly agenda, directions and other classroom material on these pages. A large portion of class will be filtered through Google Classroom this year. I will be reviewing this information with you in class the first week!
