Meet

Mrs. Morton

Hello, New First Grade Mammothteer Friend and Family!

Welcome to a new and exciting year in First Grade for 2023-24!  I hope your summer was fantastic, and I bet you are as excited as I am to begin our new learning adventure! Together we will learn and grow, engaging ourselves as readers, writers, and authors and thinking strategically and critically in math, science, and social studies.

Let me begin by telling you a sharing about myself and my family.  I have loved teaching for over 25 years!  I received my Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Nebraska and a Master of Arts Degree in Diverse Learners in Elementary Education from the University of Phoenix. I love learning and continue to take classes throughout the summer and school year to keep expanding my learning journey! My husband Dave and I have been married for over 30 years, and we have a fantastic daughter Emmi, who will be a junior at the University of Oregon (Go DUCKS!) majoring in Marine Biology.  We have 2 English Springer Spaniels, Walter & Mitchell.  Our family also enjoys spending time together doing archery, stand-up paddleboarding, and fly fishing. As you can see, we love water, and I am incredibly passionate about the ocean! I like to think that we are all like seashells...all unique and beautiful with our own stories to tell!

Throughout this new school year, I will keep you updated on all the latest “happenings” in our classroom through emails, Thursday Folders, newsletters, along our website.
