Mrs. Kounkel 

My name is Christine Kounkel and I am eager to meet each of you and look forward to a positive and productive school year! I will have the privilege of being your child’s science teacher. During the course of the school year we will create a climate of scientific discovery. This will be my 23rd year teaching in Douglas County and 30th year in education. I was fortunate to have grown up in Australia and returned to the United States to complete a Bachelor’s Degree in Education at Michigan State University. While commencing my teaching career in Arizona I earned a Master’s Degree from Northern Arizona University. Outside of teaching I enjoy spending time with my husband, five amazing grown children and two sweet labradors. My children all graduated from Douglas County Schools and have pursued college degrees in Colorado. We are a CU Boulder family. Some of my favorite pastimes include traveling, attending CU athletic events, camping and hiking. I am looking forward to a wonderful year of learning!
