Our whole staff is excited to welcome a new class of kindergarteners into the Gold Rush Family!

Below you will find some of the same information that you should have received in my welcome email!

Looking forward to seeing everyone in a few weeks!!

WELCOME TO OUR CLASS!

1. Letter

I would love the chance to get to know your child a little bit before the school year starts.  Please email me a short letter letting me know about your child.  This can include interests, favorites, hobbies, any worries, information about them both socially and academically, and how they will get home at the end of the day (Parents walk up to the dismissal door, bus, car loop, siblings, etc.).  Please also attach a favorite, recent picture of your child with your email. Please email your letter and picture ASAP but at least by August 5th

2. Snacks, Lunch, and More:

Please be sure to read through the attached Welcome Packet for all of the info needed on lunch, snacks, procedures, etc. Kids are encouraged to bring a full water bottle and two snacks for AM/PM recess. We do have some severe allergies in kindergarten. Since kids eat snacks outside we prefer that their snacks be NUT FREE. Lunch items MAY contain nuts as children with severe allergies will be eating at a separate table. Thank you for your understanding! It is also suggested to have special pocket in the backpack for snacks so they always know where to locate them!

3. Balanced Beginnings, Picture Day, and the FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL:

Kindergarten students have a transitional start to the school year referred to by the District as Balanced Beginnings. Kindergarten students will meet with a small group of students on August 7th, 8th or 9th for two hours. You will drop off your child and pick them up for this at our classroom's exterior door.

Students will get to know a few classmates and partake in engaging activities. We will begin to build community and learn individual children's social, emotional and academic strengths and needs.  Students will take their picture with you between 11:00 AM-1:00 PM on the day you have signed up for.

Parents will need to sign up for Balanced Beginnings if you have not yet done so. (click here to sign up for Balanced Beginnings)

Kindergarten students’ first full day of school is Monday, August 12th. I will meet students at our classroom door at 8:20.  You are then invited to a Tears and Cheers Breakfast in our cafeteria at 8:45AM. This is a great opportunity to meet other new families and parents of kindergarteners!

4. Back to School Night:

This is DIFFERENT for my class this year!! I will be out of town taking my youngest to move into her dorm and attend her orientation in California on the night of the GOLD RUSH Back to School Night so we will have our's on Wednesday August 28th from 5:00-5:30 in our classroom. I apologize for this rescheduling but I just have to be there with her. I can't miss it!! There will be a principal presentation on the Back to School Night on August 21st but Dr. Brown typically shares that information electronically as well. I will be sure to pass that on to you. You are, of course, welcome to attend that night as well to see her presentation in person.

5. Arrival and Dismissal:

ARRIVAL

Gold Rush has had tremendous success with our rolling start! If you are returning to Gold Rush, you are aware that all students enter our classroom exterior door between 8:20-8:30 AM.  Parents/siblings typically walk their kindie to our door for the first weeks of the year and then as they become more confident and comfortable, they are often dropped off in the car loop. Some parents walked them to the door every day to say goodbye! Whatever works best for your family and child is great. If you arrive after 8:30, students need to come in through the office front doors and check in there before heading to the classroom.

DISMISSAL

Our class will be dismissed at 3:20. I will open the outside door to our classroom and release the kids to their adult at that time.  If a sibling is picking them up, we will wait until the sibling arrives. If the student is going to car loop, I will walk them there at 3:25. If your child is riding the bus or a day care shuttle....an adult staff member will walk them to the bus loop.

6. Supply List:

Here is the link to our school supplies. Please send all supplies with your student when they come to Balanced Beginnings. Thank you! If you purchased a supplies kit through the school, it will be delivered directly to our classroom.
