Mrs. Padrnos' Kindergarten
Making our Schema Grow
Another area of reading that we have been focussing on is growing our schema through books! I would introduce a topic and have the students reflect on what they already knew about this subject. They would go and write and illustrate what they knew and then we would come back together. I would read a non-fiction book to them and their task was to return to their desk to write and illustrate their new learning. Finally, we would share with each other how our schema grew! Here are a few examples.
Pumpkins come in different sizes.
Pumpkins are not veggies they're fruit.
Bats fly in the nights.
There are 1000 kids of bats.
Spiders can make webs and they make you dead.
I didn't know that spiders are arachnids.
Skeletons are bones inside of body.
Skeletons: The smallest is the ear bone.
Looking forward to meeting with parents to celebrate your amazing kindergarteners at conferences: Oct 5th, 6th and 7th.

If you have not already done so, please sign up for a time slot. You will drop off your student for those two hours. Please bring their school supplies at this time as well.
School Pictures will be taken from 11-1 each of these days.
