Veteran's Day 2025
Twins?? The kids love it when they arrive at school wearing the same thing as a friend! They will ask me to take a picture all day until I get a moment! I send a lot of these home via SeeSaw but here are a few!
ABCs from Sea to Sea
This year I signed us up for a Pen Pal group. We are in a group with Kindergarten and Pre-K teachers from all over the country. Each one of us was assigned a letter and we were to make 26 letter crafts and then send them to everyone in our group. We got the letter I and made our Is into the Incredible I! We mailed our's off around the country and now we wait to receive the rest of the alphabet crafts with a letter telling about the place they live! Can't wait to see all the creativity and learn some geography and letter sounds as we go!
First Week of Kindergarten!
Making New Friends and learning all about GRE!
Our whole staff is excited to welcome a new class of kindergarteners into the Gold Rush Family!
Below you will find some of the same information that you should have received in my welcome email!
Looking forward to seeing everyone in a few weeks!!
Important information and things to do...
1. If your child goes by a shortened name, middle name, etc. please respond to this email letting me know. I will be labeling many things in our classroom soon and want to be sure to have the correct name before doing so.
2. Letter:
I would love the chance to get to know your child before the school year starts. Please email me a short blurb letting me know about your child. This can include interests, favorites, hobbies, any worries, information about them both socially and academically and how they will get home at the end of the day (Parents walk up to the dismissal door, bus, car loop, older siblings, etc.). Please also attach a favorite recent picture of your child with your email (can be any quick snapshot you have on your phone!). Please email your letter and picture ASAP but no later than August 5th.
3. Snacks, Lunch, and More:
Please be sure to read through the attached Kindergarten Welcome Packet
for all of the info needed on lunch, snacks, procedures, etc. Please note that we have several severe nut allergies in kindergarten this year. Snacks and birthday treats may not contain any nuts. Lunch items may contain nuts as children will be eating separately. Thank you for your understanding! Thank you for also helping your child understand that we cannot share any food with our friends at school to keep everyone safe.
Please choose a pocket in your child's backpack to put their snacks in each day. Having this consistent, easy to find place helps snack time go smoothly. Do not send snacks in a lunchbox as this makes it confusing to know what is a snack and what is part of their lunch. Thank you!
We also suggest sending in a full water bottle each day. We have a water fountain in the classroom but it is so hot in August and having their own water bottle is important. They can also bring this water bottle to the cafeteria at lunch.
4. Balanced Beginnings, Picture Day, and the First Day of School:
Kindergarten students have a transitional start to the school year referred to by the District as Balanced Beginnings. Kindergarten students will meet with a small group of students on August 13th or 14th for two hours. You will drop off your child directly at our classroom door.
Students will get to know classmates and partake in engaging activities. I will help students make connections while learning about their individual social, emotional and academic strengths and needs. Students will take their school picture with you between 11:00 AM-12:45 PM on their selected day. They will have a picture station set up and you will need to go into the school through the front office.
If you have not done so already, please be sure to sign up for Balanced Beginnings. Times are designated on a first come first serve basis.
Here is my Sign Up Genius link: Balanced Beginnings
Kindergarten students’ first full day of school is Monday, August 18th. A staff member will meet students at our classroom's exterior door between 8:20-8:30 AM. Kindergarten parents are invited to a Tears and Cheers Breakfast in our cafeteria at 8:40 AM on August 18th.
5. Back to School Night:
Mark your calendars for Back to School Night on August 27th! This is a great way to get to know your child's teacher and learn about the coming school year.
The principal will share school celebrations and school goals in the gym from 4:15-4:30 PM. Teachers will then present an overview of the school year at 4:35-5:05 PM and 5:10-5:40 PM in their classrooms. Back to School Night is intended for parents only.
We hope you will join us for these informative sessions!
6. Arrival and Dismissal:
Arrival:
Please try to have your student to school at 8:20 each morning in order to be a part of our morning work and class meeting. Students arriving after the last bell at 8:35 will need to check in through the office.
Dismissal:
Our classroom will be dismissed at 3:25. Please see the attached Welcome Packet for more information on procedures for this.
7. Supply List:
Here is the link to our kindergarten supply list. Please send all supplies with your student when they come to Balanced Beginnings. You don't need to label any of the items EXCEPT the headphones, water bottle, lunchbox and backpack. If you purchased a supplies kit through the school, it will be delivered directly to our classroom. Please note that if you purchased a kit, headphones for your student will need to be purchased separately. (I will double check this....last year the kit did include the headphones but they were not the best quality and most did not last long!)
