We have been having fun in music class so far this year! There has been lots of singing and experimenting with different instruments such as egg shakers, castanets, maracas, tambourines, and rhythm sticks.
This year, our 3rd graders will learn patriotic songs to perform for Veterans Day, as well as participate in a recorder unit. Our 4th and 5th graders will explore the ukulele through a hands-on instructional unit. In the spring, our 4th graders will also participate in a Colorado History performance.
Our 2nd graders will learn songs and dances in preparation for our annual Pajama Party spring musical. Kindergarteners will explore musical opposites such as high/low, loud/soft, and fast/slow. In the spring, they will also learn songs to perform at the Kindie Moving-On Celebration in May.
Additionally, all students will participate in a keyboard unit during the spring semester, giving them an opportunity to develop basic keyboard skills while continuing to build their overall musicianship.
