Welcome! My name is Lynn Eklund and I am a moderate needs interventionist at Gold Rush. I began my teaching career working with English Language Learners and then became a classroom teacher where I taught both second and third grade. After spending time at home with my children when they were young, I came back into teaching special education. I am now entering my seventeenth year in education, and eighth year in special education. I received my undergraduate degree in Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education from the University of Northern Iowa. I graduated with a Master of Education degree with an emphasis in Special Education from Colorado State University-Pueblo. I have also completed both the Basic and Advanced Orton Gillingham trainings, and training in UFLI.
When I am not teaching I enjoy spending time with my husband Pete, daughter Lydia, sons Liam and Brandt, and our dog Winnie. It is a big year for our family as Lydia is a senior at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Liam is a senior at Ponderosa, and Brandt is with his brother at Ponderosa as a freshman. Our family enjoys traveling, playing games, watching sports, and being outdoors together.
