Classroom Expectations

Students may earn points toward a treat throughout the day by being safe, respectful and responsible. These are called "WOW" points. If a child is not following the rules, I will usually have a conversation about the behavior I need changed. If a student chooses to not correct their behavior, they may be asked to fill out a "Think Sheet" to go home and be signed by the parent.

Individuals in our classroom may ear a Paw Award by any adult at our school if they are demonstrating wonderful safety, respect and responsibility at MVE.

Our class works together to earn classroom Paw Parties when we also demonstrate the MV3 rules at specials and at Mountain View.

Leaving Early

Please try not to pull your child out early if you don’t have to. We understand that dr. appointments and occasionally going out of town sometimes happens. We usually have PDL near the end of the day and your child may not be in the classroom to pick up quickly or easily. Keep this in mind.

Homework

Reading Books are always due back the next day. Math HW is due on Fridays (or Thursdays if no school on Friday). On the last day of the week, I look for filled in Reading Logs, completed Math sheets and will put in 5 new blank cards for sight word practice for the next week. Completed Homework (HW) gets rewards!

Going home early or change for pick up

Please call the office to let them know. The office will send an white slip for your child. Without that slip, I will send your child home his/her usual way. I often do not get to my emails until after 4:00, so please do not email changes for the day.

Tardy

If your child comes in after 9:10, please check in at the office. I sometimes have attendance already done and you will receive “the phone call” from the school saying your child is not at school if you do not check in at the office.

Earphones/Composition Books/binders/supplies

If you are missing any other supplies, such as headphones or composition books, please send those in also. Composition books are the Primary Version with the picture space on top and the bigger spaces between lines (the dotted line in the center)

Volunteers

If you are interested in volunteering, please email me.

You can help with kids in the classroom, help with “clerical” work, take pencils home to sharpen, or help stuff Thursday Folders on Thursdays!

Parties

We will be having 2 parties (Halloween and Valentine’s Day). If you are interested in helping out, please let me know!

Birthdays

Students are not allowed to hand out invitations at school unless the invitations are for all boys, all girls or for everyone in the class.

Please sign up with the PTO directory so your child can be included in birthday parties.

I am unable to give out personal information for parties, so please make sure to sign up with the PTO Directory so your child does not get left out!

If you would like to bring in treats for your child’s birthday, we will most likely eat them at the end of the day. NO NUTS. Please also bring in any items that are needed for the treats (ie, napkins, plates, spoons, etc…)

Run For Funds!

Run For Funds will be in the Spring this year. More information will be available then.

Snacks

Please send your child with a non-nut snack each day. We have a scheduled snack time at 10:20.

Scholastic News

Please send in $8.00 cash or check payable to MVE for our non-fiction text resource Scholastic News. I will ask at Back To School Night and remind each family on the Weekly Reminders and HW emails. Thanks!

MV website

Please go to the MV website for school information.

Our specials schedule is “green"

Bathroom/Drinks

Please send a water bottle (with a spill proof lid) for your child to have on his/her desk.

Bathroom…Let me start by saying, if your child has a medical condition or a problem that you have noticed at home, PLEASE let me know. I am trying to teach the students to be responsible by using the restroom before school, during snack, recesses and lunch. I may be contacting you if your child is starting to ask to leave the room too frequently.
