All About Mr. Cole

I was born and raised in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, before moving to the nation's capital for high school and undergraduate studies at the University of Ottawa (U of O). After graduating with a Bachelors Degree in Physical Education, Honors, from U of O, I attended the University of Toronto (U of T) where I received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education. Upon graduating from U of T, I moved to Southern California where I spent nine years teaching third and fifth grades in the Palmdale School District. After nine years of teaching sixth grade at Copper Mesa Elementary (CME) and one year of Health / Physical Education at Castle Rock Middle School (CRMS), this is my tenth year here in the Integrated Wellness Department of Mountain Ridge Middle School (MRMS).

Not only am I a teacher at MRMS, I am also the proud father of two children who were educated in the Mountain Vista feeder area of Douglas County schools. Our beautiful daughter, Jacklyn, a MVHS Class of 2018 graduate and is now a Magna Cum Laude, Class of 2022 UCCS graduate. Her gregarious brother, Benjamin, a MVHS Class of 2020 graduate, is currently an Exercise Science Senior at Metro State University. Both of our children attended Copper Mesa Elementary before MRMS and MVHS. My incredible wife of 27 years, Glenda, is an ESL Specialist in Cherry Creek School District. In addition, our family has lived locally in both Highlands Ranch and Castle Pines. As you can see, we have plenty invested in the MVHS community and Douglas County itself.

Throughout life I have always been actively involved in the community through extra-curricular activities, especially athletics. Originally as a player, then a coach, and finally an official of both recreational and competitive sport, I personally believe that organized physical activity is an excellent way to develop the total child. Learning Life Skills such as pride, integrity, courage, character, and cooperation (to name a few), contributes to the development of our children which eventually enables them to grow  to be respectful, confident, loyal, contributing members of society.
