thinkSRSD

This is our 3rd year using the thinkSRSD framework at AWE! thinkSRSD is a research-based writing framework that helps students become confident, organized, and independent writers. It guides them through the writing process, planning, drafting, revising, and editing, while teaching strategies to strengthen their ideas, structure, and word choice. We start by writing the gist (a short sentence that sums up the main idea), then we “Do/What” to break down the prompt, pick our best ideas from the text, and use the TIDE plan (Topic sentence, Important evidence, Detailed explanation, Ending) to organize our writing. With thinkSRSD, students learn how to set goals, check their work, and take pride in their progress.
