All About Me!

Welcome! My name is Betsy Sistek and I am the STEM Teacher, Librarian, and Technology Administrator at Mammoth Heights! This is my 4th year at this school and my 21st year of teaching! I love teaching STEM! I love asking questions and enjoy the process of creating and thinking. I want our students to be critical thinkers and ready for real word experiences.

I love teaching and it is my passion! Most people around our school know me as the tech fix-it teacher! I am a high energy teacher and love when students are inquisitive! Curiosity is a wonderful way to learn. I knew I wanted to be a teacher when I was very little. I was the kid who loved to play school! I received my bachelors degree from North Central University and have an endorsement in Curriculum and Instruction. I am currently working on a Masters in Education Administration through Concordia University and hope to be done by the end of this school year. I am a life long learner! Before moving to Colorado, I taught in Omaha, Nebraska. And before that, I taught in California and Georgia. I have taught various subjects and grades in Elementary, Middle and High schools.

When I’m not at school, you can find me with my husband, Andy, and four kids: Jeremiah, Amy, Annaliese, and Josiah. This year, I can say I have one in college, high school, middle school, and elementary school! Coach Sistek teaches and coaches at Chaparral High School. Mr. Sistek loves technology and computer science even more than I do! When you get to high school, he will teach you more about computer science and engineering. He is also the head wrestling head coach for Chap. All four of our children wrestle. They do other activities and sports too. We love saying we work and are a part of the Chap Family! We’re a busy family doing activities and sports such as football, wrestling, volleyball, tennis, running, playing the piano, show choir, or watching the Nebraska Cornhuskers play football, volleyball, and of course, wrestling! GO BIG RED! This year we are excited to watch our oldest son compete in wrestling at the collegiate level at Concordia University. Go Bulldogs!

Some cool facts about me are that I have lived overseas near London in England and outside of Nairobi, Kenya. I have been on 4 of 7 continents. I love Indian cuisine. If I could pick anywhere to live, I'd want to live on a lake and have a boat where I could go waterskiing everyday!

Check out my family below! Some of you will recognize Josiah. He is in 1st grade at MHE!
