Welcome! My name is Tiffany Platt, I am the Gifted And Talented Facilitator and an Intervention Specialist at Mammoth Heights Elementary.
I work with teachers and students in grades K-6 to support learning pathways for certain students learning. I work in collaboration with classroom teachers, parents, and students to focus on specific learning goals based on the student's needs. I support our teachers in developing opportunities to stretch students' thinking and adapt their instruction to differentiate for all learners, especially our gifted learners. I am so happy to be a part of the Mammoth Heights team! It is an amazing school with an exceptional staff!
I live right here in Parker with my husband Brian, and two dogs. We have 2 sons. Our oldest Davis goes to school and works in Flagstaff, AZ and our youngest Blake attends Ole Miss. I attended The University of Northern Colorado where I worked hard to become a teacher. I completed my student teaching right here in DCSD! Although I have taught at a few different schools, I have been a teacher in Douglas County my entire career for over 27 years. This community holds a special place in my heart. In my free time, I like to exercise, do yoga, read, be with friends and watch movies. I am lucky to still be doing what I love and what energizes me….teaching!
Maya Angelou said, “People will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” My passion as an educator is to make students feel valued, loved, respected, safe, and empowered to achieve. Education looks very different than it did in the past decades. Today’s learners are preparing for a future we don’t know much about. What I do know, however, is that they need something different. They don’t need more, they don’t need less, they sometimes just need something different. If we take the time to understand them as individuals with individual needs, perceptions, and ways of learning then we can make a difference in each of their lives. This is not possible without collaboration and partnership between the student, parents, and teacher.
