Our mental health team supports the social, emotional, and behavioral well-being of all students. We provide individual and small-group counseling, crisis intervention, and classroom lessons that teach coping skills, emotional regulation, and conflict resolution. We collaborate with teachers and families to address student needs, promote positive school climate, and connect families with community resources. Our goal is to help every student feel safe, supported, and ready to learn.
Hi! I have been the School Psychologist at Sedalia Elementary since August 2021. I earned a B.S. in Experimental Psychology from the University of South Carolina. I earned a M.A. in Psychology and an Ed.S. in School Psychology from the Citadel Graduate School. I grew up on the coast of South Carolina and moved to CO in July of 2020.
I'm an avid fly fisherman, aggressively mediocre snowboarder, and write and play music in my free time. I also recently got engaged and am looking forward to tying the knot in October!
I'm excited to work with our amazing group of students at Sedalia Elementary!
Hello! My name is Maureen Martinez and I am the School Counselor and 504 Coordinator here at Sedalia Elementary. This is my 7th year at this school and I absolutely love working with our students, staff, and amazing families. I earned my Bachelors degree in Sociology from the University of Northern Colorado and I earned my Masters degree in School Counseling from the University of Northern Colorado.
I am a Colorado native and grew up in a small mountain town. I have two beautiful children and a dog. I love to spend time with my family and friends, bake, read, and watch movies.
I am so beyond excited for another amazing year here at Sedalia Elemetary!
Hello everyone! My name is Dixie and this is my 4th year as the Behavior Technician at Sedalia Elementary. I have a Bachelors degree in Child Psychology and Child development from Colorado State University. I did my graduate work in Multicultural Psychology at the University Of Idaho. I am a fifth generation Colorado farm girl with over 30 years experience working with children and families. I live with my Partner, our three children and our two Boxer dogs. My oldest son is 16 and we have fourteen year old twins who are a boy and girl. I love spending time with my family, hanging out at the beach or in our family cabin in the mountains.
I absolutely love coming to work to be with our Sedalia Kiddos, the incredible staff and My awesome teammates. Cant wait for another incredible year at Sedalia!
I am happy to be back at Sedalia this year on the Mental Health team and teaching our Social Emotional Learning Curriculum - Wayfinder. I absolutely love working with every grade level on Wednesdays.
I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education with Early Childhood and Gifted and Talented endorsements - my Master's degree is in Education. My first year of teaching was in 1983, so I have been around the block a time or two, with the majority of my years spent teaching in grades 4 - 6. This is my 5th year at Sedalia and 30th year in DCSD.
My husband, Mike, and I celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary last summer. We raised seven children and now have 15 beautiful grandchildren.
I love anything outdoors, enjoy traveling, playing the piano, reading, doing puzzles, walking my three large dogs, and spending time with family and friends.
Sedalia holds a special place in my heart - it's been difficult to "totally" retire from here!
