These tips can help students across all grade levels!
Want to help your kids with math at home? When your child is faced with a challenging problem it is hard to watch them struggle! Instead of showing them how to solve the problem, help them by asking questions. This will allow them to work through the problem in a meaningful way. Some questions/prompts you could ask are:
What does the problem tell you? Can you tell it in your own words?
Visualize what’s happening in the problem. Make a picture of it in your mind.
What are you being asked to find?
Is there any part of the problem you already know how to solve?
Will it help to make a drawing?
