Hello and Welcome to Kindergarten!
I am absolutely thrilled to be your child’s kindergarten teacher this year! My name is Mary Hastings, and I’m beginning my 24th year of teaching. I have taught kindergarten, first, and second grade, and I love working with the primary grades because these years are filled with excitement, curiosity, and tremendous growth.
I grew up in Colorado and earned my undergraduate degree in Psychology from the University of Northern Colorado. I later earned my teaching certificate through a Master’s program at the University of Colorado Denver. Over the years, I’ve taught in Colorado, Arizona, and Texas. I moved back to Colorado in 2010 and have happily called it home ever since.
Outside of the classroom, I’m a proud mom to my son, Jack, who will be starting 9th grade this year at Rock Canyon High School. Jack keeps me busy with art projects, hiking, and fun adventures. We also have a new puppy named Lola, who we adopted from the Denver Dog Fair and who has brought so much joy (and energy!) to our home.
When I’m not teaching or spending time with Jack and Lola, I enjoy practicing and teaching yoga. I teach adult yoga classes at Sumits Yoga on Saturdays and lead children’s yoga camps—called Yogis for Life—right here at Timber Trail after school. I also love offering art camps, hiking, traveling, and spending time with my friends and family.
I feel truly honored to be part of your child’s kindergarten journey, and I’m looking forward to an amazing year of learning and growth together.
