Hello Heritage Community!
My name is Lucy McGraw, and I’m thrilled to serve as the Moderate Needs Interventionist for students in Kindergarten through 3rd grade. I’ve been a Special Education Teacher since 2008, with a meaningful break in between to stay home with my three wonderful children during their early years.
I began my teaching career in Northern Virginia after earning my Master’s degree in Special Education (K–12) from the University of Virginia. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with both elementary and middle school students, and I’m currently loving the opportunity to focus on our youngest learners.
Early intervention is a true passion of mine. It’s incredibly rewarding to witness the progress children make when given timely, targeted support—especially when school and home are working together as a team. I’m certified in both Orton-Gillingham and Wilson Reading System interventions, and I enjoy using these structured, research-based approaches to help students grow into confident, capable readers.
I’m excited for another great year of learning, growth, and collaboration!
