Lori Wheeler's Kindergarten 2024-2025
A BIG Welcome to My Wonderful Kindergarten Families!!
Hello!!! My name is Lori Wheeler and I am over the moon excited to get to be your child's kindergarten teacher!! I’m sure it’s hard to believe your kiddo is old enough to be heading off to school this year!! I sure can’t wait for our adventure to begin...I’ll be with you and your Kindergartner every step of the way. We have a fantastic group of children in our class and your child will make many new friends!
My Story as a Teacher:
I’m thrilled to be entering my 30th year doing what I love most...teaching!! It was during my own second grade year (way back in 1978) when I told my parents I would become a teacher. That dream came true in 1995 and I’ve loved every moment of every role throughout the years. My journey through school (as a Colorado Native) took me from Littleton Public Schools (Arapahoe High School) to a small private university in Kansas (Baker University) and I later obtained my Masters Degree in Administration...I just could not bring myself to leave the classroom!! I love Heritage Elementary...I was on the planning team and opened the school back in 2001 and have taught every grade level over the years! No matter my role at our school, Heritage is home and I sure hope you all feel the same.
On a Personal Note:
I’m very close to my family-we all live within a 4-block radius! One of my favorite roles is being an aunt. My niece, Mackenzie, graduated from Ole Miss (University of Mississippi) one year ago and has moved back to Denver!! This auntie missed her so much and is so happy she is loving her marketing job here in Denver. My nephew, Iain, is a Junior at Ole Miss…Oxford, Mississippi has become a very special college town for our family! Hotty Toddy!! My fiance (Mr. Jesse) and I share our time between Winter Park and Centennial…We love to ski, mountain bike, swim, hike, and hang out with our fur babies. We have a Golden named Copper, a Chiwenie named Annie, and a yellow Lab named Scoutie. My dad, who would have LOVED visiting our Kindergarten classroom, passed away a few years ago and I’m blessed to be able to live with my mom. (She’ll LOVE visiting our room and getting to know our cutie pie Kindies this year!!!) That is far too much about me….I can’t wait to get to know you and your adorable Kindergarteners!
This Will Be an Amazing Year:
Your kindergartener is going to LOVE kindergarten! In science, we'll be learning about plants and animals, speed and motion, sorting objects, and the Sun. In social studies, our focus will be on people of the past, patterns, groups of people around the world, ownership, wants and needs, communities and citizenship. We will learn how to become readers and writers through daily small group and whole class instruction. In math, we will learn how to transfer what we're learning in class to our daily lives. We will also play - yes, play - every single day. During that time we will create, take risks, discover, and problem solve. I can not wait for our fun to begin!!
