Hello and welcome to Instrumental Music at Cimarron!!!
My name is Kimi Sharp and I am the Band & Orchestra Director. My passion is to create an environment where students feel accepted, important and safe to be themselves. The Instrumental Music room at Cimarron will be a place where students will respect each other and learn to value each person's unique gifts, talents and personalties. We are a team that will work together to create something AMAZING!
My Musical Roots:
I grew up in Derby, Kansas and was extremely active in music growing up. I began learning to play the saxophone in the 5th grade and definitely found my place in band. In high school I was enrolled in as many music classes as possible, including, Marching Band/Symphonic Band, Jazz Band, Mixed Choir and Madrigals.
Education/Career:
I attended Friends University in Wichita, Kansas where I majored in Music Education and studied saxophone and voice. I taught 5th - 12th grade Band in Valley Center, KS for 3 years and then taught General Music, Band & Orchestra at Sedalia Elementary for 4 years. This is my 10th year at Cimarron and I absolutely think this is the best Middle School in Colorado!
My Family:
My husband Ryan & I live in Castle Rock and have blended together 4 kids (3 boys, 1 girl).
We also have 2 furry kids (Grace, golden doodle & Murphy, Terrier mix)
