Welcome to Mountain Peak!

Hi there! My name is Kim Leonard, and I am thrilled to be stepping into a new role this year as your Reading Interventionist. Bringing together two of my favorite things—children and literacy—is a dream come true.

With 16 years of experience teaching Kindergarten, 2nd, and 6th grade, I’ve had the privilege of supporting students at every stage of their development. I chose to transition into intervention because nothing beats the magic of working side-by-side with a child and watching their frustration transform into a proud, confident "I can do this!" It is a true gift to help them find their voice and realize they’ve had the heart of a reader all along.

A Little About Me

Before my career in education, I served as a Human Resources Supervisor for Magic Mountain in California, but my heart eventually led me to the classroom. I am also a 16-year cancer survivor, a milestone that makes me deeply grateful for every day of this journey we call life.

I am the blessed mother of three incredible grown children:

• Josh (27): A proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps.

• Ethan (24): Currently serving as a Navy Airman.

• Cassidy (21): A dedicated Medical Assistant.

Though I was born and raised in Southern California, I have called Colorado home for the last 21 years. When I’m not at school, you can find me horseback riding, paddle-boarding, walking my two dogs, or enjoying a good book with my book club.
