Welcome to 7th grade Language Arts! Here is the nitty gritty about the class:
First of all, I have a family and so do you. I don’t give much home learning because I want you to enjoy being a kid and spending time with your family. I give you a lot of time in class to work and get help from me, so home learning will be reading or finishing up something you didn’t get done in class – it is NEVER “busy work”.
Next, I expect you to come to class ready to learn. I expect you to have pens, pencils, highlighters, loose leaf notebook paper, a folder, and a book of your choice for free reading. You will read one book a month (or more if you choose!). You also need an open mind and a willingness to participate. Please come to class ready to be 100% involved.
I also expect neat work. School is your job right now and you need to present yourself accordingly. Your writing shows who you are, and when you are sloppy it is a direct reflection of how much you care about school. Respect yourself and your work.
Grading is something I strive to get done in a timely manner. Most assignments are graded within a week, but larger projects and writing assignments take awhile.
