Meet Mrs. Christopher

My name is Katrina Christopher and I am the new special education mild/moderate teacher for part of 4th,all of 5th and 6th grade. I graduated from Regis University. On my educator license, I currently have the endorsements for Special Education, Elementary Education, English Language Arts, and Culturally and Linguistically Diverse. I have worked in Special education for 6 years in Jefferson county and 2 years in Denver county. Most recently I worked as the teacher in an Autism center program in a K-6 elementary school, the focus was on inclusion in the general education classroom with academic support in the center classroom.

My philosophy is every child has strengths or gifts that they can leverage against what they struggle with to accomplish their work. Also I believe every child can reach their full potential and learn self advocacy skills for life skills. Everyone can and will become a part of society and have a place and value in this world.

I grew up in Colorado and love waking up to the mountains every day. I am married and have 2 adult children, and 2 grandchildren. Our oldest child has high functioning Autism. The other child had ADHD. I have been through the trials and tribulations that all parents of children with disabilities and hidden strengths have. We will be a team to support and guide your students on the educational journey of their lives.

I have many hobbies and interests, I am a garden manager of a community garden (Chatfield Community garden at St. Gregory’s). I love to sew which includes quilting and clothes making. Also I enjoy walking and playing with my pets (cats and dogs). I love the outdoors and trying new things.
