Welcome to 5th grade! My name is Laurel Kai. I am privileged to be your child's teacher. I have been teaching here at Rock Ridge for many years. I Graduated from BYU & Metro State. I have previously taught in Japan which was a marvelous experience. I really enjoy including my international experiences into the IB units and curriculum that we teach.

As an IB teacher, I also make an effort to be "balanced" and "sharpen the saw". In my spare time I enjoy playing volleyball, camping, and going on hikes with my son.

This year I am so excited that we will be incorporating the Leader in Me program into our classroom. This program is a fantastic tool that will help us all to learn how to become leaders in our own lives. You will be hearing a lot about the program as we learn new things throughout the year!

It is my hope that you and I can work together as a team to help your child learn in the best way possible. Your involvement is a very important part of my classroom. I am looking forward to getting to know all of you as we build our classroom community.
