WRITING

The students will continue to use thinking maps throughout the school year to help support their thinking!

This program really digs into the thinking behind writing.

• If you think it, you can say it. If you can say it, you can write it!
• The maps are a visual to help support thinking.

There are 8 ways that the brain can process information. We will focus on all of these processes throughout the entire year.

1. Circle map- Used for defining
2. Bubble Map- Used for describing
3. Double Bubble- Used for comparing
4. Tree Map- Used for classifying
5. Brace Map- Used for whole to parts
6. Flow Map- Used for Sequencing
7. Multi-Flow Map- Used for cause and effect
8. Bridge Map- Used for seeing relationships

We are also on our second year implementing Write from the Beginning. Students really dug into narrative writing last year. This year, we will continue our narrative writing and dig deep into expository writing. All other writing genres will also be completed with supplementary material.
